What does ‘Pretty in Pink’ really mean?

Pink is pretty, but do you know what it really says about you? When creating a colour scheme for your wedding, please don`t just pick pink because it`s pretty! There are many factors that are important to consider when choosing a theme.

‘Of all forms of non-verbal communication, colour is the most instantaneous method of conveying messages and meanings.’ Colour stimulates the senses, recalls memories and produces emotional responses.

Having a design background has taught me the importance of “smart design”, so that I have a practical reason as to why to choose a certain colour. Yes, purple may be your favourite, but does it relate to your seaside wedding, are purple flowers in season during the date of your event, or even more importantly, does purple convey the natural and timeless affair you were striving for?

Through years of experience, I find that the fashion industry blends strongly into wedding and event occasions. That new turquoise or baby pink you see in clothing stores will soon be seen in bridal magazines everywhere. I think this can be good for marketing, but bad for the bride. Most brides want to be unique, and stand out from what is popular. So you may want pretty in pink for your wedding, but please first ask yourself, what does this say about me?
